“I want to thank the gentlemen by the high tables and bar area, we ate here twice and they were very professional. The whole crew does a great job, the dishwasher, busser, the other servers and the hostesses upfront, and of course the cooks and chefs. Besides the weekends, hours are limited compared to the main location on Lamuese, prices are also a bit higher but I think it's because it's inside a casino. Regardless, the food is just as fabulous. They also have a sushi bar, so you have more options than you think!”

“Excellent meal. We tried this restaurant years ago and we left unimpressed. Decided to try again and WOW, what a difference. Food was delicious. Our sweet server, Kaitlyn took great care of us. It's so nice to have great friendly servers. It's how it should be. Dishes were nicely presented and very tasty. The sweet potatoes were divine. Don't skip dessert if they have the pecan pie cheesecake. It was heavenly. The decor is cool,old doors line the walls. Definitely will be returning.”

“Located inside the hard rock casino and hotel, this is a unbelievable place to eat. The atmosphere is great inside, you have TVs by the bar if you wanna catch a game, and also very themed environment! We sat in the bar area, and the two bartenders were really nice, and explained everything on the menu, and gave us suggestions on what was good since it was our first time there! They took their time! We had the oyster, small sampler, which was two oysters from all four of their oyster offerings, they were all amazing and tasty!!! There is a sampler on the menu where you get four of each, but if you ask the server or bartender, they can give you the two oyster small sampler for $21.75! We also had the seafood pot pie, which came out fresh, hot, and full of seafood! We also enjoyed the snow crab salad, which was full of snow crab, they didn’t skimp! And we also tried the Louis Armstrong role, which, or if your sushi fan was an A+ ! We wanted to recognize both bartenders that helped us, and especially Tylin goes by “Ty” , who was a really nice and professional bartender all night long!”

“Located in the Hard Rock Casino is a good place to get a bite. They have a pretty bar area with real gas lit fire overhead. The service started out good, but then our server was gone for a long time. So long we had to ask for her. Someone else brought our refills. Not sure what happened there. She finally reappeared to close out our check. She apologized and told us she was split between 2 stations. She was very friendly, so that made up for it. We split a cup of gumbo and then split a shrimp po'boy with fries. Everything was very tasty. The gumbo was hot and fresh. The po'boy bread was perfect and flaky. They have a higher end menu, including sushi, but they also have burgers. It's a good place to feed all cravings.”

Enter: Us, hungry protagonists in search of something beyond ordinary. We were guided by fate (and our stomachs) to the doors of Half Shell Oyster House, where the lovely hostess welcomed us like we were returning cast members in a sequel she was genuinely excited to see. “Welcome back!” she said with a smile that had the warmth of sweet tea in July. Cue the real star of the show: Giovanni. Our server. Our guide. Our culinary spirit animal. If restaurant service were a martial art, Giovanni would be a black belt with a gold-trimmed apron. He was prompt, poised, and more respectful than a Southern grandma on Sunday morning. He made sure everything hit the table like it had its own entrance music. Let’s talk about the menu plotline: • The Crab Leg Salad? A fresh, flaky redemption arc in a bowl. • The Crawfish Bisque? If warmth and flavor had a baby, this soup would be its godfather. • The Sushi Rolls? Crisp, cool, and clearly rolled by someone with serious chopstick confidence. • And then… the Fried Tuna Steak – a bold, crunchy character with a mysterious sweet potato crème brûlée sidekick that stole the show and nearly made us applaud between bites. But every great movie has a twist: the fried green beans. Let’s just say they were the unexpected plot hole. Not bad, just… unnecessary. Like the third act of a 4-hour director’s cut. But hey — even award-winning films have a moment or two you fast forward. Final verdict? If this dinner were a film, we’d give it five stars and demand a sequel. We’ll be back for another screening soon — with an appetite and hopes that Giovanni’s still headlining. Bravo, Half Shell. Bravo.”
